This was the Frankencaster when I first got it. Tasty, huh? It had about 1/8 inch of poly over the top of the orange crazy shit, then beneath that, a thick layer of purple, and below that a thin coat of black enamel. I kept a little of the black enamel on the sides just for effect.

I turned it into this.

The body is plywood, as you see. It is heavy as hell.

The pickguard is solid brass. I antiqued it with ammonia fumes. The pickups are Rio Grande Muy Grandes. They rock. I also replaced the electronics with the following:

1 meg volume pot
250 k tone pot
.001 treble bleed cap
.05 cap
