...and now, TWO YEARS and OUT!

Although Fiction Inferno is no longer with us, we remember her fondly. Who can forget that mewling brat fresh born and only just beginning to smoulder? Who denies the joy of our babe's very first spark, her very first flame? Who cannot summon a boiling tear for the inexorable march to nova that is the fate of all who burn so bright?

Fiction Inferno began as a literary magazine devoted to publishing speculative and imaginative fiction that doesn't fit elsewhere. Dangerous fiction. Experimental fiction. Subversive fiction. Outrageous fiction.

Fiction Inferno is the mutant green-haired stepchild of Max E. Keele, a long-time writer of odd little stories and inveterate collector of rejection notices. Although managing to publish at least one story in each of the last three decades, when Max found himself slowly disappearing under a pile of rejections, he came up with a two-pronged solution that might just be crazy enough to work.

FIRST: Pile up all of the accumulated rejection notices (well over a hundred at that point) and set fire to them.

SECOND: Start a literary magazine devoted to publishing speculative and imaginative fiction that doesn't fit elsewhere. Dangerous fiction. Experimental fiction. Subversive fiction. Outrageous fiction. In other words, Max Fiction.

Now, of course, Max knew full well how ego-centric and boorish this strategy actually appeared to anyone with three functioning brain cells, so, as a sort of camouflage, he began collecting other writer's similarly peculiar works and published them as well.

FI realizes that you are the only person who has ever, or will ever read this magazine. This fact does not seem to bother Max, however. He strongly believes that just having his words out there, where impressionable brains just might run across them, is vengeance enough.
